Vegetable Tanned Leather Case for Vortex Pok3r Keyboard

One from my “fun project ideas” folder: a leather case for a 60% keyboard (the Vortex Pok3r).

I picked some beautiful 4mm thick vegetable tanned leather from Victoria, Australia for the main 2 parts and lined it with black pigskin suede. The hinge at the back of the case is made from 2 layers of kangaroo leather and it’s all held together by 4 low-profile magnetic snaps.

All the hand-stitching was done with white artificial sinew.

The bottom part of the case can be taken off and used as a dust cover while the keyboard is not in use.

I also tried my hand on braiding kangaroo lace around the USB cable to match the style of the case.

The front attaches with magentic snaps — The top case is made from 4mm thick vegetable tanned saddlery leather

Veg Tanned Leather Top — Hand dyed in dark red

Back hinge — the back hinge is made from 2 layers of Kangaroo leather.

Bottom Case — The bottom case is from the same piece of 4mm veg tanned saddlery leather as the top. Both are lined with black pigskin suede.

Open case — The case uses 4 magnetic snaps. The top can be taken off and the bottom of the case doubles as a dust cover when the keyboard is not in use.

Separated parts — The bottom case as dust cover.
