I got it from a few different places. Birdsall Leather in Sydney is selling waxed coloured thread. You should be able to find waxed thread in craft/sewing stores in your area. I ordered some from this knife maker supply place in Europe, too: http://www.rickert-werkzeug.de
Hey,
Could you please tell me where you got the exact thread for this project? I am having difficulty finding anything even remotely similar. Would be much appreciated!
Nice! I made one with normal veg tanned leather, too (the one in these photos is thinner kangaroo leather). It’s the endless search for “the perfect wallet”!
I’m actually not sure as I don’t have one laying around but you can download the pattern (top of this page) and print out at 100% to make one for yourself 🙂
That’s a good project for something useful and can be done with modest time and expense. I am working on my first real project and I am including the slots for the CC’s as you have shown. An issue I noticed early on was that no matter the vertical spacing for the slots they all insert to the bottom. I had to figure out how to create a bottom for each slot. My solution is to use soft sheep skin and sew in a pocket on the backside with it’s own depth. Is there a simpler way?
Very cool tutorial. I’ve never seen this technique before.
Thanks
Kelly
Wow! that’s a cool one. Love your tutorials.

Hey Luke,
I had to dig through some old invoices but found the place: http://www.rickert-werkzeug.de/de/Lederwerkzeuge-Naht-Kante/Garne-Faeden/Ledergarn-Flechtgarn-Spule-23-m-flach1.html
It’s a German store, so I hope they ship internationally! The one you want is called “Bunt”. That’s the rainbow coloured one.
I’ve found a lot of the waxed thread on

There’s a great color and size collection!
Made a couple of wallets based on you design. Love em. You 5-6 veggie tam leather and dyed them a few different colors.

Hey, what is the length and height of the wallet?
